Slant height is measured from the bottom of the shade angled up to the top of the shade, not the distance from bottom to fitter. Fits best with a 9" harp.

A Drum/Cylinder-Shaped Shade

A drum lamp shade resembles a barrel or drum shape. The sides of the shade are completely vertical, or near to. They go straight up and down, which means the top and bottom of the drum lampshade are usually about the same size. This produces a somewhat more modern look, and equal amounts of light may emit out the top and bottom of the shade. Due to its cylinder shape, the shade easily allows bulb heat to escape. A cylindrical drum shade coordinates well with modern lamp bases or a base with a clean profile.
